Vanilla Cake

  • 2.5 cup all purpose flour (maida)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2.4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence


To make your vanilla cake preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Place a desired shape baking pan with a parchment paper. Grease the paper and the side of the pan walls well. Beat thoroughly sugar and eggs in a large mixing bowl. It is advisable to mix it with an electronic mixer. Add milk, oil, flour, baking powder and vanilla and re beat it for two minutes. Make sure the batter is creamy and smooth. Stop as soon as you get the desired smoothness else overbeating may ruin your cake. Pour the batter in the baking pan.

Bake the cake in the oven for thirty to forty minutes. Or bake it till the tops are golden in color. Poke a toothpick into the center of the layer and check if it comes out clean. Try to loosen the sides of the cake from the pan with the help of a thin knife. Now turn out onto a rack and slowly peel off the paper. Let it cool at room temperature. Frost the cake only when it cools down.
