Rich Chocolate Cake

We bake different kinds of cakes during Christmas. Everyone loves chocolate cakes. Here is a simple recipe for Rich Chocolate Cake, which can also be tried by beginners. This Christmas you can surprise your loved ones with this fabulous cake.

Makes: 20 pieces


  • 250 grams chocolate pieces
  • 225 grams butter
  • 90 grams castor sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tbsp castor sugar (extra)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp vanilla essence
  • 15-20 grams thin chocolate pieces (extra)
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder (extra)


Pre-heat the oven to 160-degree C. Melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan on low heat. Stir all the time. Remove from heat and mix all together.

Using a hand mixer, whip 90 grams sugar and eggs for 2 minutes. Mix cocoa and extra sugar with the egg mixture. Whip it and add vanilla essence. Now mix the egg mixture with the chocolate pieces. Whip thoroughly.

Fill ½ part of a roasting tin in an oven and bake the cake for 45-50 minutes. Remove the roasting tin from the oven. Keep aside to rest for sometime. Remove the cake from the roasting tin. Place it on a wire rack to cool.

When cool, put the cake on a serving plate. Garnish sides all around the cake with thin chocolate pieces. Sprinkle cocoa powder in the center of the cake and serve.
