Plum Cake Recipe

You do not need any reason or occasion to bake a cake. Cakes are an important part of a household consisting of children. It is a filling and healthy snack that one can bake and keep for the family or even for guests.

There are many cake recipes available, but this recipe is very simple to prepare and bake. This plum cake recipe can be used to bake a delicious cake that will be relished both by children and adults alike.


  • 2 cups plums
  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup butter
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Cooking Process

The first step to making your delicious plum cake is to prepare the mixture. Separate the egg white in a bowl and whisk it. In another bowl, combine the butter with sugar till they blend together. Now, put the lemon zest into the whisked eggs and stir it in. Sift the flour and baking powder in a bowl and mix it. Next, add the flour mixture into the butter and sugar mixture, folding it in with a spatula. Pour the egg whites into this mixture, stirring it all the while, so that no lumps form.

Now, pre-heat the oven to 375 degree F. Prepare the cake tin by greasing it properly. Pour the cake mixture into the tin and spread it evenly. Cut the plums into small pieces and cover the batter with it. The plums have to be put on the cake with the skin side down. You can also remove the skin of the plums before using them, if you prefer it without the skin.

Now, put the cake in the oven and let it bake for 40 minutes. You can check the cake with a fork in between the baking to see whether it is cooking properly. Once the plum cake is ready, remove from the oven and let it cool. You can decorate the cake, if you like with icing or chocolate sauce. Serve the cake when it is cold.
