If you love the age old “Banana Split Ice Cream Sunday”, you have to try this banana split cake.

This cake is full of real bananas, and nuts with a drizzle of chocolate. You will find it is a very beautiful and delicious ending to any special meal, or a sure hit at your next party. This recipe is shown as a one layer flat cake, but can easily be baked with two layers.

Ingredients

Cake

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. baking powder
  • ¾ tsp. baking soda
  • 3 creamed ripe bananas
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Frosting

  • ¼ cup softened butter
  • 8 oz. softened cream cheese
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • Chocolate shell syrup

Method

Preheat oven to 350. Butter and flour 9×13 inch pan.

Mix together the butter, sugar, vanilla, eggs, bananas and milk.

Add salt, baking powder, nuts, and baking soda to the flour. Combine the two mixes. Beat well.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out mostly clean.

Frosting

Mix cream cheese and butter until very creamy. Add sugar and vanilla, stir well. Frost cake.
